Efficient third harmonic generation was recently demonstrated in Ar gas using
ultrashort KrF laser pulses on a gas jet targets. The efficient generation
became possible due to an atomic 3-photon resonance.Within the frames of
the XTRA Marie-Curie network the precise characterization and optimization
of the conversion to 82.8 nm radiation is to be carried out, which opens
possibilities for further applications.
